Scabs post-op - Aloe Oil
Permalink

I'm on the 14th day after my surgery and, even though I wash my hair twice a day, there are many scabs on my recipient.
Can I try Johnson Baby Oil Aloe (I haven't found oil with vit. E) to help removal of these scabs?
I think to apply it about 30 minutes before shampoo, is it right?
Many thanks.

Here's a pic, after shampoo.

Hi Rico,

By now you should really have little to no scabs. I know you are washing your hair twice a day, but mayne not strong enough when you are washing. What you see is the dead skin, it needs to come off. You need to give your scalp a good massage and scrub when you are washing your hair now.

Yes, the grafted hairs will fall, but this is natural, some would have fallen already if the dead skin was not holding them in. I appreciate you want to be careful, this is normal, but you are probably being too careful.

All the best, let us know how it goes.

I'll follow your advice, Phil, and I'll do good massage from next shampoo this evening.
Many thanks again.

Here, I applied Aloe Oil on the recipient about 45 minutes before shampoo.
Then I've done a good massage (5/10 minutes) to remove a lot of dead skin.
The situation is better than yesterday.
There are actually not scabs, but only skin died.
I think in a few days the scalp will be cleaned.
Thanks for your advices, Phil.

Good news Rico,

Sometimes it is easy to understand you want to be very gentle, you have worked hard to put all that hair in and you do not want to be too aggressive.

But at this stage in your healing, there should have been very few, if any, and you can see the big improvement just with one good shampoo.

Congrats mate, good healing.
